How To Choose Shared Web Hosting

Shared web hosting is one of the most commonly used types of hosting today, mainly because it offers good results without charging a lot of money. For the first time small business owner to the personal web page, this type of hosting is quite common and often provides just the right amount of service to keep you in business for all needs. Down the road, as your website grows in size and structure it may become necessary to get private hosting services, but you may not need this yet.

Customer Service Does More

Often times, the new website owner will find themselves amazed with the sheer number of options they have.  How much bandwidth and space do you need, though?  How many design features can be usable to you?  Once you get over the options you have, you may become very overwhelmed in terms of how to use these features.  You may have questions, too. This is when it pays to consider the company you are working with.  Many webmasters count on their hosting service to answer questions and to provide problem solving and solutions to them.  Always look for a company that is able to provide you with the level of customer service you need.

What To Look For And Compare

  • There are many elements to compare from one shared host to the next.  Here are some of them:
  • What is the monthly fee and set up fee for using the hosting?
  • What is the amount of disk space available to you, from under 1 GB to more than 3 GB's.
  • What is the platform used; common options include Windows, Unix or Linux, and Macintosh
  • What monthly data transfer options are available?
  • How many mailboxes do you need or want?
  • What is the programming language?
  • What is the database?
  • What general features like Third Level Domain, multiple domains in one account, and secure server options do you have?
Shared hosting is a fantastic way to get a website up quickly and affordably.  Choose the company able to meet your demands and needs here.
